Collection: Boston Solutions for RGP Lenses NZ

Boston lens care — for rigid, ortho-k and scleral lenses

Boston is the standard care system for rigid gas permeable lenses. If you wear RGPs, ortho-k, or sclerals, this is almost certainly what you were dispensed — and it is not interchangeable with soft-lens solution. Soft-lens MPS will not properly clean a rigid lens.

The three-part system, and what each part is for

  • Boston Advance Cleaner — the daily surface cleaner. Rub with this every time you remove the lens. This is the step people skip, and it's the one that prevents deposit build-up.
  • Boston Advance Conditioning Solution — the soak. Wets and cushions the lens so it sits comfortably on the eye.
  • Boston Simplus — a one-bottle alternative that does both. More convenient, slightly less thorough than the two-step.
  • Boston One Step Liquid Enzymatic Cleaner — weekly protein removal. Not optional if you're a long-term wearer.

Why we care about this

Rose Optometry is a specialist ortho-k and keratoconus practice. A poorly cared-for rigid lens doesn't just get uncomfortable — it hazes, deposits, and can compromise the cornea underneath. If your lenses have stopped feeling right, talk to us before you replace them. It's often the care routine, not the lens.
