OCuSOFT — lid hygiene for blepharitis and demodex

Most chronic dry eye isn't a tear problem. It's a lid problem. The oil glands along the lid margin block, the lid margin gets inflamed, and no amount of lubricating drop will fix that. Lid hygiene is the treatment, and OCuSOFT is what we dispense for it.

What each one is for

  • OCuSOFT Lid Scrub OUST Demodex Pads — tea tree based. For demodex blepharitis, where mites colonise the lash base. If you have cylindrical dandruff-like collarettes at the base of your lashes, this is what you need. Ordinary lid wipes will not clear demodex.
  • OCuSOFT Oust Demodex Cleanser — the same active in a foaming cleanser, for daily use.
  • OCuSOFT HypoChlor Spray — hypochlorous acid. Antimicrobial, non-irritating, and the gentlest option. Good for maintenance and for anyone who finds tea tree too stingy.
  • OCuSOFT Retaine CMC — preservative-free lubricant drops, for the tear-film side of the problem.

Be realistic about the timeline

Lid hygiene works, but it is not fast. Demodex has a life cycle of two to three weeks, so you need to treat consistently for at least six weeks before judging it. Most people stop at two and conclude it didn't work. It did — they stopped.
